We caught up with Dallas-based Wali Bacdayan—Braemont Capital’s newly appointed partner—to chat about his fresh role and what keeps him busy beyond the office walls.
Tell us a little bit about your background.
I grew up in Natchitoches, La., the oldest city in the Louisiana Purchase, where my parents settled after immigrating from the Philippines.
After graduating from Washington & Lee University and earning my MBA from Kellogg, I started my private equity career at PNC Equity Partners, later co-founding Incline Equity Partners. Over the years, I’ve launched and invested in businesses across various industries as well as other private equity funds. Now, as a partner at Braemont Capital, I continue to work with founders and management teams to drive growth.
What will you be focusing on in your new role?
At Braemont Capital, I’m focused on partnering with founders and management teams to help scale businesses and create long-term value. My experience in growth investing, capital raising, and strategic advising complements the broader team, and I will be focused on helping our companies reach their full potential.
Describe your proudest achievement.
I take pride in helping businesses grow, mentoring younger entrepreneurs, and collaborating with founders and executives as they build their companies. Supporting the next generation of leaders has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
I’m also proud to serve as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at my alma mater, Washington & Lee University, contributing to its continued growth and development.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Lifelong learning and authenticity are critical to success, especially in leadership. A great leader is always learning, knows their strengths, understands their journey, and stays true to who they are.
When you’re not working, what would we find you doing?
You’ll likely find me on the golf course, traveling, or spending time with my family. I enjoy golf for the challenge and the relationships that come with it. I also love exploring new places and experiences. But most of all, I value time with my family, especially watching my kids compete in sports.
